How To Make Upcycled Denim Eggs For Easter
I make a lot of things by repurposing old jeans for Christmas, I thought it would be fun to broaden out to Easter denim crafts, with these denim eggs.
A couple of weeks ago I posted some gorgeous patchwork fabric easter eggs that my Nephews had made.
Since then I've been working on some denim projects and whilst surrounded by denim scraps I thought why not make some patchwork denim Easter eggs for fun.
These eggs are so easy to do and in no time I had a nest full of denim eggs and it cost hardly anything to make as it was all made with waste materials.
These denim eggs featured under the letter E in the A to Z of denim crafts.

What You Need To Make Patchwork Denim Eggs
- Denim scraps and I mean scraps you only need really small bits of fabric. However, a variety of denim from different pairs of jeans is best for achieving a good patchwork effect.
- Eggs, as I like to have scrambled eggs for breakfast each morning I'm quite happy to blow these eggs and use them for my crafts. However, if you can't be bothered to do that you can just use craft eggs; plastic, polystyrene, or wood.
- Fabric Modge Podge or any white glue suitable for fabric.

How To Make Denim Easter Eggs
1.. First cut the denim scraps into strips that are less between 8- 10 mm wide and about 6cm long. You want them to be the length of your eggs. Tapering the ends of the strips so they are thinner at each end is also a good idea.

2. Then, using a small brush, brush the wrong side of the denim strip with fabric glue. Then stick the strip to the egg length ways.

3. Carry on sticking strips of denim to the egg until it is all covered. I like to use denim in different shades of indigo to achieve a striped effect on the eggs.

I told you it was easy. These eggs do have a sort of rustic feel to them and make for a great Easter decoration. They would also be great for an Easter egg hunt.
They should keep for years, even if you used real eggshells as the glue and fabric would have strengthened them.

Decorating eggs for Easter is a fun craft as well as these patchwork fabric eggs, I've made some cool Marimekko designer eggs. I've also decorated real eggs with vintage blue tit images and made them into a fun wreath.
